Roof leaking right now? Call first. We’ll stop the water.

The first hour of a roof leak

Water that gets past the roof doesn’t stay put. It soaks insulation, stains drywall and, given enough time, brings a ceiling down. We have photographed exactly that: a Piqua ceiling that collapsed under a leaking roof in April 2025.

While you wait for us, move furniture and electronics away from the drip and catch the water. If the ceiling is bulging, keep people out of the room. Stay off the roof, especially while it’s wet or the storm is still passing.

When we arrive, we find the entry point, photograph the damage before anything is covered, and secure the opening with a properly fastened tarp. Those dated photos matter if you file an insurance claim later.

After the tarp: the permanent fix

A tarp buys time; it isn’t a repair. Once the weather clears we come back, trace the water path, check the decking and attic, and give you a written plan. Sometimes that’s a flashing or pipe boot repair. Sometimes, like on our Piqua and New Carlisle jobs, the decking is soft and the roof needs to come off.

FAQ

Emergency Roof Repair questions

How fast can you come out for an emergency leak?

Call 937-80-ROOFS ((937) 807-6637). After storms we put active leaks first and send the earliest crew available; timing depends on the weather and how many homes were hit.

How much does emergency roof tarping cost?

It depends on the size of the opening, the pitch and how the roof can be safely reached. We tell you the price before we start. If a covered storm caused the damage, many policies treat reasonable emergency repairs as part of the claim, so check your policy and keep the receipt.

Should I call my insurance company first?

Protect the home first. Most policies expect you to take reasonable steps to prevent further damage. Keep receipts and photos, then report the claim. Our dated photos can help.

Can I tarp the roof myself?

We don’t recommend it. Wet roofs are slippery, storms leave loose debris and downed lines, and a badly fastened tarp can blow off or channel water underneath. Stay inside and call a professional.
